An innovative & unique
approach to emergency
food
Hunger is not the only
problem
Hunger is often a symptom for people in greater crisis of
poverty, substance abuse, domestic violence, illness or chronic
unemployment. That's why EFP works in collaboration with over 200 social service agencies that cover
the whole spectrum of human services. These agencies provide information on
other community resources to help guide people toward longer range assistance,
and hopefully help move them quickly towards independence.
We're different
EFP differs from
traditional food distributors and hot meal programs in four distinct respects:
Six meals per food pack - Our bags are packed to
make six complete, nutritionally balanced meals per person, regardless of family
size. We know that our clients may be entirely without food and need a
complete supply to last a few days, not just supplemental food.
Healthy choices- Our food packs are designed in concert
with professional nutritionists, to assure that each variety is well balanced
and contains the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA).
Special needs - We offer 15 different
food packs for those with special dietary needs such as no-cook,
no-refrigeration foods for the homeless, a snack pack for homeless teens,
culturally sensitive Asian, East African and Latino boxes, heart-healthy
low-sodium, Diabetic-friendly low-sugar, high-protein liquid, vegan, infant
formula and baby foods.
Availability - Food
is readily available seven days a week through one of our numerous Seattle/King
County distribution centers.
